Updating the sculpt. Left is the original hand model. Right is the new sculpt. Middle is the lower poly version of the sculpt so that the details can be mapped onto it. Could go lower polygon count, but this is fine for now.

Texture painting the new arm. Using a fingerprint alpha for the hand to give it a ridged look like that of a lizard but with a more stylized humanoid look.

At the start of this first semester of year 3, my plan was to revisit my unfinished projects from the last two years and give them some form of finality. Make a short animation in my stop-motion home, a short continuation to the lizard-men from Journey Beyond, a digital pottery gallery with motion graphics telling the story of Perseus instead of just a 2D animation, and I was also going to fix the capacitive touch sensitivity for the cat sculpture along with a patina and finalized base for it. However, as the weeks progressed, I found myself most drawn towards further exploration with digital sculpting and texture work. These few images show the work that was beginning on this updated character model prior to my switch towards something entirely new but was itself the inspiration for what would come next.

Through the exploration of form and texture, I began working on a more "Realistic" body for the little lizard/dinosaur aliens. I started with more dinosaur and iguana inspiration and then shifted toward that of a gecko. I was thinking that I might have each lizard-alien look like a different type of lizard. A gecko, a bearded iguana, and a komodo dragon. However, this is as far as I got with this before I shifted my attention towards something entirely new.
